Public Management department honors their top students

The Department of Public Management at the Tshwane University of Technology Soshanguve South campus recently hosted an award ceremony titled “Still I rise’’ by Maya Angelou to recognize the outstanding achievements of its first-years to their advanced diploma students. The event was a testament to the department’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and nurturing future leaders in the field of Public management.

The top students were about 18 whom received the awards in the honouring of their hard work, Mpumelelo Mkhonza who got 2nd position for first year in local government said ‘’ Being recognized is a great feeling so that when you study all your hard work and determination is noticed by your lecturers and the department and you are awarded accordingly, you going to have that urge of keep going”. The students demonstrated the remarkable dedications, hard work and a passion for a public management and encouraged to continue to strive for greatness. 


The house committee and chairperson of the public management department Tshepo Mhlala mentioned how the awards reflect the university’s commitment to academics excellent and student success and said ‘’ I won’t say the university as a whole because the last time academic excellence awards hosted in our department was 2014, as us the current committee members we are the one whom actually pushed so that we can acknowledge our hard working students who are performing. He continued by saying we do not want to be bias to students who do not perform well , they don’t want them to feel side line but to continue working hard to also be recognized by the university , hard work always pays off said the award receivers as part of their comments in the ceremony. One of the mothers of one of the achievers Itumeleng Ngobeni mentioned how happy she is that her daughter received an academic award and said ‘’I am so happy that I couldn’t even work because of how proud I am of my child

This recognition not only acknowledge the students’ academic achievements but also motivate them to pursue their goals with much energy. The Department of Public management is very proud of its students and to having so much talent and driven individuals as part of its community and looking forward to seeing their future accomplishments.

Mamelodi celebrates Heritage Day
