On September 28th, the vibrant township of Mamelodi West hosted the Heritage in Colour Festival at the Softball Grounds, organized by Ranyaka Community Transformation in partnership with Nedbank. This enriching event brought together the community, featuring live performances from local artists, traditional dancers, and entrepreneurs, all showcasing South Africa's rich cultural heritage.
The festival provided a platform for the community to celebrate their diverse backgrounds and shared history, fostering a sense of unity and pride among attendees.

The event community successfully united the community,empowered local artists , supported entrepreneurs and also the and to fundraise for Non Government Organisations in Mamelodi. According to the Marketing and communication manager of Ranyaka community transformation LesegoMasethe said “the aim was to promote unity within the community of Mamelodi and celebrate diversity and promote a culture of inclusivity and mutual respect of which we included the coloured people.”

The festival featured local cultural groups, DJs, and traditional dancers. Attendees enjoyed a variety of delicious foods representing different cultures while others watched the performances and celebrated their heritage. “The festival was a great initiative; it was very informative and educational about heritage,” said one of the attendees, Mampho Boyi.
Local business entrepreneurs made a significant impact by attending the event, resulting in profits, promoting their businesses, and inspiring the youth to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities. Tupperware seller Thembi Thwala remarked, “The festival gave me the opportunity to showcase my products and connect with customers.”
The festival was supported by local NGOs, including the Old Age Home of Mamelodi. With an impressive turnout of nearly 421 attendees, including performers, stallholders, and members of the public, the event exceeded the hosts' expectations. It served as a testament to the power of unity and cultural exchange. The success of the event was made possible by generous sponsors, including Nedbank, Hyundai, and McDonald's, along with contributions from local businesses, resulting in a successful fundraising effort of R10,000.
